N/GRV High begins student registrations

For students of Naselle/Grays River Valley High School, the 2009-10 school year will begin on September 3.

This year’s registration format will closely follow that of the past four years: At least one parent/guardian must accompany their child to the registration session. Parents will be asked to assist their children in selecting courses, choosing an educational pathway, and developing a high school and beyond plan. Students will not be allowed to officially register for classes without parent involvement.

During the week of August 17-21, the school will be hosting four evening registration sessions for returning students and one daytime registration session for new students or for those unable to make an evening session in the Naselle High School Commons. The presentation for each evening will last about 20 minutes and be tailored to the specific needs of each grade. After the initial presentation, families will complete and submit a parent approved registration form as well as a parent/student signed high school and beyond plan.

This year’s registration schedule will be as follows:

• 12th Grade: August 17, 6 p.m.

• 11th Grade: August 18, 6 p.m.

• 10th Grade: August 19, 6 p.m.

• 9th Grade: August 20, 6 p.m.

• New students, August 21, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

If a student cannot attend, a parent may register for classes in their place. New students must bring a copy of their high school transcript (unless they are an incoming freshman) and their most recent report card.

If a scheduling conflict prevents a high school parent/guardian from attending the registration session on the designated date and time, there are three options. The parent can: attend a registration session on a different evening; come to the school on August 21 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., or contact the school to arrange an appointment and/or a class schedule. Parents with more than one student in the high school only need attend one of the registration sessions—preferably the earlier one.
