At a special meeting rescheduled from June 23, commissioners of Port District No. 2 met June 30th to review draft fiscal policies and to hold a supplemental budget hearing on grant funds obtained to cover Summer Youth Employment Program expenses.
As part of the policy discussion, port district commissioners considered requiring a deposit and 48 hours notice of cancellation, but did not act on the proposal. Currently, park staff ask for notification about cancellations, but do not require campers to make a deposit when reserving a site.
Port Marketing Consultant Karen Bertroch reported that the crew of Summer Youth Employment Program students will begin orientation next Tuesday. The students working at Vista Park will spend their first three weeks at Port District No. 1 before spending the remaining time with Port 2.
Bertroch also announced that the park’s new website (www.SkamokawaVistaPark.org) is operational.
Port Manager Steve McClain announced that a Seattle-area resident had been instrumental in securing donated playground equipment for Svensen Park.
The next meeting for Port 2 is July 21, 7 p.m., in the Skamokawa United Methodist Church.
