At their regularly scheduled meeting on June 16, Wahkiakum Port District 2 commissioners scheduled a special meeting for next Tuesday for further work on a financial policy manual and to hold a supplemental budget hearing on approving an increase of $17,000 to the port’s budget from Summer Youth Employment Program grant funding.
In other business, Port Manager Steve McClain announced that Kylie Thacker had been hired for a temporary position as supervisor of the port’s youth employment program crew.
McClain reported that compared to this time last year, 2009 revenue is behind by $2,000. He added that bookings have increased since schools ended, and reservations are full for most popular camping times.
Port commissioners also approved the writing of a letter of support for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to use in applying for federal grant funds to buy and improve a boat launch site on Oneida Road in western Wahkiakum County.
