The five acre Ahlberg Park site on the southwest end of the Grays River Covered Bridge will be the site of the 2009 Covered Bridge Celebration on August 1 beginning with a walk run event at 9 a.m., followed by prizes and a parade, farmers market and food, music by the Naselle Marimba Band and Quick Release, a county music dance band, throughout the afternoon.

Farm tractors and classic cars are invited to parade through the bridge beginning at 11 a.m. Children are always welcome and families are invited to spend the day; there is no cost to attend. Ahlberg Park is owned and operated by the Wahkiakum Community Foundation with the vision of keeping the area open to the public for fishing and recreation. The park is also available for special events, family reunions and weddings.

To register as a vendor, or for more information on the event, contact Bonnie Linquist at 360-777-8300 or Karen Bertroch at 360-465-2414. To register for the 4.5 mile loop walk-run event, contact Mike Matthews at 360-465-2320.
