What's happening at the Fair?

The Wahkiakum County fair has been part of our community for over 100 years, showcasing the best and brightest of our beautiful county. Each year we face new challenges, but with the help and continued support of the community, we have gone from strength to strength.

With a brand new facility on the horizon, the fairgrounds will finally be able to offer a unique venue, competitive with the surrounding areas. Next year the fair will receive no county funding, so we must pull together to raise funds. The fair board and I are committed and plan to utilize the new arena so that events can be held year round. If you have an idea for an event or would like to help organise a fundraiser, please contact the fair office today.

There have been some brave enough to step into the role of fair manager, but few who have made such a dramatic impact as Esther Gregg. After her many years of service, it is my absolute pleasure to announce that the fair board and I have chosen Esther for this year’s fair dedication! Congratulations Esther and thank you for your hard work and support.

Time is running out for this year’s royalty program! Don’t miss your opportunity to win a $500 scholarship. A great way to meet people and gain experience for your resume, call the fair office today for your chance to become Queen or King of the 101st Wahkiakum County Fair.

This year the fair board has promised to issue the premium checks within two weeks of fair. In order to keep the fair staff sane, please ensure you double check all information on each and every entry card you complete. Your address, age, category as well as the premium book reference must be correct and included.

The 2009 Fair Premium book is a great way to promote your business while at the same time, supporting your community. If you run a business in Wahkiakum, don’t miss out on your chance to reach customers directly. Call The Eagle today to confirm your space.

If you’d like to become involved with the fair or have an idea on how the fair can be improved, get in touch. You can send an email to wahkiakumfair@centurytel.net or call the fair office at 795-3480.
