The Lambing Management School on April 17-18 was well attended including several youth participants. Dr. Scott Lubers and Patrick McKay-Beach worked with participants during lambing on the McKay-Beach farm on Puget Island.
The first in a series of Family Movie Nights was held on April 25 with the After School 4-H Media Club showing the videos they have produced and the new movie release “Bedtime Stories” courtesy of the Video Store in Cathlamet. The event was a great success with a crowd of over 50! The Media Club did a special video featuring interviews with community leaders on volunteerism in Wahkiakum County for the Wahkiakum Community Network Brag Night held April 22.
The 25th annual Great White Tail Run sponsored by the county 4-H Council is coming up on May 16. Run brochures may be picked up at the Cathlamet Pharmacy, Post Office, front lobby of the courthouse and the WSU Extension office. This is a fun family event with a 10k, 5k and 2 mile walk/run – you can even enter with your dog this year!
WSU Extension participated in the St. James Family Center Safety Jamboree on April 25. Extension Agent Carrie Kennedy passed out information on Extension programs.
WSU Extension is planning an exciting summer full of more workforce prep classes on renewable resources, culinary arts and performing arts. We are working on plans for two day camps on quilting and ATV safety. Be sure to watch for more information.
