Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It was a wet and windy day for our first annual community auction but that didn’t stop the bargain shoppers of Wahkiakum. With hundreds of items to choose from, the community auction provided an afternoon of family fun.
To those who braved the spring weather, thank you for coming and showing your support. I’m thrilled to announce that the WSU Extension, 4-H and fair association raised almost $1,200!
The fair board and I wish to thank Brian McClain and his family for doing an outstanding job running the auction as well as Lore Twiet for organizing the fundraiser.
Time is running out! You have less than a week until the fair board meets to decide this year’s fair theme. Put on your thinking cap and start brainstorming as we want to hear about your ideas. Not only will your theme be used at our 101st fair this August but the winner will also receive a gift certificate to Sharon’s Pizza in Cathlamet, generously donated by Commissioner Blair Brady. All entries must be received before April 8 so what are you waiting for? Call or email the fair office today.
The Wahkiakum county fair royalty program is now accepting applications for 2009. This year we’re interested in anyone aged 14 or older who lives in the Wahkiakum / Naselle area. If a scholarship could help your son or daughter, why not consider enrollment? The royalty program is a great way to meet people, while picking up new skills. If you would like more information contact the fair office today at 795-3480.
The Easter Bingo is scheduled for April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Elochoman Grange.
If you’d like to volunteer, become involved with the fair or have a question about the fairgrounds you can always send an email to wahkiakumfair@centurytel.net or call 795-3480.
