What's happening at the Fair?

The fair board and I invite you to attend a public meeting next Monday from 7 p.m. at the River Street Meeting Room in Cathlamet, to discuss the rebuilding of the main fairground structure.

This will be your chance to express an opinion on what you think is the best solution. The new building provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the fairgrounds and open up possibilities of new revenue.

As our 101st fair is a short six months away it’s important that we work together to ensure the fairgrounds future. If you want to give your two cents, make sure you don’t miss the public meeting on Monday.

Would a scholarship help your daughter? Is she 14 or older and looking for a good experience to add to her future resume? Why not sign her up for this year’s princess program? A great way to meet people and gain confidence while picking up new skills, the Wahkiakum county fair princess program is now accepting applications. For more information contact the fair office 795-3480.

Spring is here and what better time to clean out those closets? All those pesky items taking up valuable space, why not kill two birds with one stone and donate your ‘junk’ to the community auction? One man’s ‘junk’ is another man’s ‘treasure’ and with your donation you’ll be helping out some worthy causes, including WSU, 4-H and the Fair Association. We can collect items if needed so if you would like to make a donation, contact WSU or the fair office today.

The community auction will be held within the 4-H/Youth building at the fairgrounds on March 28. Hosted by Brian McClain, this family event will uncover the hidden treasures of Wahkiakum.

If you’d like to volunteer, become involved with the fair or have a question about the fairgrounds you can always send an email to wahkiakumfair@centurytel.net or call 795-3480.
