Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
We are well into the first of our series of Workforce Prep Classes for middle and high school students. The class on Media Intro has 12 middle school members who are learning about making videos and posting them to the 4-H Blog at: http://wahki-4hnews.blogspot.com. As part of the class, they will tour the television station in Longview and the radio station in Astoria. Our next class “Green Works– renewable resources” will start in April. The Fair Board sponsored Valentines Dinner was well attended and everyone had a good time with great food, friends and entertainment. WSU Extension will receive a percentage of the income from this fundraising event. The next event will be the Cathlamet Woman’s Club Pie Social on February 20 at the Cathlamet Hotel. 4-H leaders and members will help the Woman’s Club by baking pies for the social and will receive a percentage of the proceeds.
For those Cougar Gold Cheese lovers, we have medium cheddar available in the local Extension office.
The Extension office, in partnership with McClain’s Auctions and the Fair Board, will be holding a Benefit Auction on Saturday, March 28 at the fairgrounds. The proceeds from the auction will support both the Fair and WSU Extension. So, while you are spring cleaning remember that you can donate sale items for the auction by calling the Fair at 795-3480 or Extension at 795-3278.
The county 4-H Program has grown with new members and volunteer leaders this year. If you are interested in joining the 4-H Program or helping with a short term project, please contact the Extension office in Cathlamet.
