Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
A new book by Donna Gatens-Klint and the Appelo Archives of Naselle presents a pictorial history of the Naselle and Grays River valleys.
Gatens-Klint used photos from the Appelo Archives to create "Naselle-Grays River Valley."
The 127-page book is filled with black and white photos, many from the start of the 20th century and a few from contemporary times.
Captions explain the photos and identify the people in them.
The photos are catalogued into chapters, including Schools; Farming the Old Fashioned Way; When Logging Was Logging; Early Transportation, Fishing and Boats; Our People; Interesting Places, Homes and Businesses, and Sports, Festivals and Fun.
The book is published by Arcadia Publishing and costs $21.99. It is available at area bookstores and independent and online retailers or from the publisher.
