Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The last few weeks have been a challenge. With the budget uncertainty and risk of flooding, we’ve had our hands full keeping next year’s fair on track. I am thrilled the county commissioners have decided to continue the funding of the fair and thank them for their support.
Get your lucky charms ready as tomorrow night (Friday) is our annual Turkey Bingo fundraiser. From 6 p.m. in the J.A. Wendt Elementary School Multi-purpose room, come down and take your chance at winning a delicious turkey or ham. Cards are only $10 for three with all proceeds going to the fair. We’ll also be holding a raffle and will have snacks available, so better get there early!
Don’t miss our Christmas Carnival and Bazaar next month on the December 13. Santa and his helpers will be spreading the Christmas joy while looking at the fantastic bargains on sale at our first ever Christmas Bazaar. There will be games, great food and a wide range of items from local businesses. Tables are only $10, so if you’re interested in participating just call the fair office on 795-3480.
If you’re looking for a way to show your support for the fair why not join our new program ‘Friends of the Fair’? For a $25 donation, you will receive a free season’s pass to our 101st fair as well as entrance to all fairground events. Your donation is not only tax deductible but provides an opportunity for you to do your part in keeping the Wahkiakum County Fair alive.
If you’d like to become more involved with the fairgrounds or have an idea on how we can improve the fair, please contact me by email at wahkiakumfair@centurytel.net or 795 3480.
Hope to see you tomorrow!
