What's Happening at the Fair?

It’s that time of year again for the annual Turkey Bingo fundraiser. On November 21 from 6 p.m. onwards, come to the J.A. Wendt Elementary School Multi-purpose room for a night full of fun. Bingo cards cost $10 for three and the winner receives a delicious turkey or ham. Raffle tickets will also be available with all proceeds going to the fair.

This week’s budget announcement will have a dramatic effect on next year’s fair and the future of the fairgrounds. I am hopeful the commissioners will show their support and ensure the continuation of the Wahkiakum County Fair.

Regardless of the budget announcement, there are many ways that you can show your support. A new program we’ve introduced is the Wahkiakum County Friends of the Fair. For a small donation, you will become an official ‘Friend of the Fair’. Your donation is not only tax deductible but provides you with a free season’s pass to our 101st fair and entrance to all fairgrounds events.

Why not show your support and sign up today, for more information visit http://www.co.wahkiakum.wa.us/depts/fair or call the fair office on 360 795 3480.

Next year’s 101st fair has been confirmed for August 20-22. We hope to start work on the Fair premium book early in the New Year and will keep you posted on when it will be made available. We have a lot of exciting ideas on how to improve the fair book, making it more user-friendly so watch this space.

Some of this year’s premium checks have been returned so if your name is listed below can you please call the fair office 360-795-3480 and leave your name and address: Marly Andrews, Alyssa Brama, Anita Byer, Dana Kamenz, Patti Kuhar, Seth Kuljis, Ellie Leitz, Sam Palmer, Esther Roche, Connor Roe, Jayney Roskamp, Karen Thomas, Lane Traver, Tyler Traver, Judy Turner, and Mekenze Weikum.
