Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Bob Aldrich, Surface Water Manager for Snohomish County, will make a presentation on "Flood Fencing Methods for Landowners" on November 20 at the Wahkiakum Stakeholders Meeting in the River Street Room in Cathlamet from 10 a.m. till noon.
In many instances, flood fencing has proven to be an effective method for debris to be caught and held, as well as to decrease damage to pastures and property.
Aldrich has developed flood fencing projects in Snohomish and King Counties and will make his presentation, before answering questions from those interested in knowing more about particular property challenges. That afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m. Aldrich will be at the Gorley Springs Project site a mile and a half up Fossil Creek Road in Grays River, at the bottom of the west side of KM, to give on the ground information to those interested in learning more at a flood fencing project site.
On November 21, Aldrich will be available to visit individual properties at landowners' requests to help determine if flood fencing would be a good option to help with high water problems.
Aldrich's visit to Wahkiakum County is cosponsored by the Wahkiakum Community Foundation and CREST. To set up an appointment with Aldrich for Friday morning or early afternoon, contact Karen Bertroch at 360-465-2414 or email kbertroch@aol.com.
