Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Wahkiakum Youth Football team finished their season with a 4-1 record this year.
Their victories included a 26-6 win over Swanson's, 14-0 against Columbia Ford, 20-6 against Toutle and 36-6 against Athlete's Corner.
Their loss came against Castle Rock 7-20. The team finished in second place in the Lower Columbia Youth Football League that consists of Longview, Castle Rock, Toutle and Wahkiakum teams.
"The team would like to thank the parents for their support and the volunteers that made our home game a success with our concessions, and Coach Hansen and his football team for their time during our home games. Thank you also to Coach Pfenniger for his time and help throughout the season," said Wendy Blix.
Six players from the Wahkiakum Youth Football team participated in an All-Star 6th grade game last Saturday at Kelso Stadium.
The River Football All-Stars consisted of these six and others from Toutle and Castle Rock. The River team won in overtime against the Kelso team from Hunnington Junior High 18-12.
This is the second year this all-star game has been played, with both victories going to the River team under the coaching of Coach Blix both years and Coach Pfenniger as his assistant this year.
