Mules win two league volleyball matches

The Wahkiakum Lady Mule volleyball team swept two Central League opponents in action this past week.

On Tuesday, the Mules rolled over visiting Adna 25-20, 25-21 and 25-11. Shelby Deaton played well at the net, and Paige Kehrli’s jump serves caused the Pirates some problems.

Last Thursday, the Mules traveled to Mossyrock and beat the Vikings 25-12, 25-22, 26-24.

Deaton made 12 kills and 13 blocks. Jordyn Wirkkala had 14 service points and six kills, and Kehrli served 15 points and made 18 assists. Samantha Cress played good defense.

The Mules travel to White Pass this evening (Thursday). The junior varsity will play in the Clatskanie JV Tournament on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. The varsity and JV’s travel to Vancouver to play Columbia Adventist next Tuesday, and they’re at Napavine on October 16.
