Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
East Deep River Dike Road will be closed next Tuesday so the Wahkiakum County Road Department can seal a leaking the dike.
Public Works Director Pete Ringen said the leak was discovered near an area that was excavated in the 1990’s for installation of new drain pipes.
The road crew will excavate to the level of the leak and about two-thirds of the way across the dike. They’ll fill the hole with material excavated from a bridge project 8.3 miles up the Elochoman Valley Road. That material has rock and clay that should pack well and withstand penetration by water, Ringen said.
