What's happening at the fair?

This year the fairgrounds will play host to a wide range of events. The first post-fair event was a travelling circus which kicked off last Thursday. For those who attended I hope you had a great time and enjoyed yourself. We’ve got a lot in store this year and hope to be celebrating the first Wahkiakum Oktoberfest next month. There’s a lot more to come so keep your eyes open

On a more personal note, I truly enjoyed myself organizing this year’s 100th fair and wish to thank everyone who has been involved. What a fantastic celebration of everything Wahkiakum. Even the sun decided to show its face! The volunteers, staff and vendors were terrific, reminding us all why Wahkiakum County is such a wonderful place to live.

This year despite the high gas prices and construction on Route 4 we had an amazing turnout. In fact, I am proud to announce this year’s attendance was over 5,500 people.

Congratulations to Nicole Hargrove our new fair queen and a huge thanks to all four princesses. It was a pleasure to work with you and I am delighted you will all receive a $500 scholarship.

We have a number of flower baskets left from the fair which are now available for sale. There is also a small selection of 100th fair T-shirts, so please call the fair office if you are interested.
