Wahkiakum schools WASL results reported

Results from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) were released last week. Local students faired well when compared to the rest of the state.

In reading, Wahkiakum fourth graders scored 78.8 percent, state average 72.3. Seventh graders, 79.5 percent, state average 62.8 percent and 10th graders, 87.8 percent, state average 81.3 percent.

In 2007, Wahkiakum reading scores were; fourth graders, 90.2 percent, state average 76.4. Seventh graders, 65.8, state average 68.5 percent and 10th graders, 85.7 percent, state average 80.6 percent.

In Math, fourth graders scored 54.5 percent, state average 53.4 percent. Seventh graders, 51.3 percent, state average 50.3 percent, and 10th graders 50 percent, state average 49.3 percent.

In 2007 Wahkiakum math scores--fourth graders, 53.7 percent, state average 57.9. Seventh graders; 36.8, state average 54.4 and 10th graders, 52.4, state average 50.2.

In Writing, fourth graders scored 57.6 percent, state average 62.1 percent. Seventh graders, 74.4 percent, state average 69.7 percent and 10th graders 85 percent, state average 86.2 percent.

2007 Writing scores--fourth graders, 56.1, state average 60.1. Seventh graders, 68.4, state average 68.1 and 10th graders, 90.2, state average 83.6.

In Science--fifth graders scored 27.7 percent, state average 42.9 percent. Eighth graders 32.5 percent, state average 47.9 percent and 10th graders 56.4 percent, state average 39.7 percent.

In 2007 Science scores--fifth graders, 35 percent, state average 36.4. Eighth graders, 26.5, state average 44.4 and 10th graders 46.5, state average 36.3 percent.
