Cross Country teams work for strong start

Full practice sessions began last week for Wahkiakum Mule cross country teams.

"We have a solid group of varsity boys led by seniors Kevin O'Connor, Frank Bosch, Jake Goldsmith and Riley Prestegard," Coach Mike RIley reported this week."Juniors are Shay Bingham, Chris Hokkanen, and Bradlee Pugh. Sophomores are Stuart Bosch and Ben Miles. Freshman runners are brothers Collan and Connar Riley.

"Our varsity girls are led by returning sophomore Jori McEntire. Amanda Collier, a senior, and Azery Gribskov, a freshman, are doing very well as first year cross country runners."

The lone Warrior Middle School cross country runner is Jonaka Heppler. "She shows a lot of promise," Riley said.

The Mules have revised their schedule and will start competition next Thursday at Castle Rock. They'll host home meets September 25 and October 11.
