Wahkiakum County voters approved their 6-year emergency services special levy and began the process of nailing down District 1 county commission candidates in Tuesday's voting.
Voting officials counted 1,117 ballots that had been returned by Tuesday. Another 438 ballots were counted late Wednesday morning.
After Wednesday's count, the EMS levy was passing with 75 percent support, 1,080 yes, 353 no.
Democrat Lisa Marsyla led the race for the two spots on the General Election ballot for District 1 County Commissioner; she had 260 votes; Republican Wally Wright had *163*, and Democrat Bill Coons had 141. Totals include Wednesday counts. With the state's new Top 2 Primary, the two candidates with the highest totals will advance to the general election.
In the voting for District 2 County Commissioner, incumbent
Independent Dan Cothren led Democrat Wayne Flohr 333-209. Totals include
Wednesday counts.
