Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Mike Haines will present his unique lyrics and guitar stylings this Sunday at 6 p.m. at River of Life Assembly of God.
From Portland, Ore., Haines' appeal is obvious by the variety of venues he has played: coffee houses, outdoor amphitheaters, college campuses and church sanctuaries.
He was born and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents took him to church and gave him the opportunities to learn piano, French horn, and various percussion instruments and studied music at the University of Miami.
Haines first picked up guitar in the early 1990’s at a summer camp, where he also learned to lead singing in worship.
He went on to tour the Northwest United States for a year with Captive Free, a Youth Encounter ministry based out of St. Paul, MN. He then moved to Portland, Oregon, where he worked with a youth group for six years. Haines currently lives in Tualatin, Oregon, with his wife Kathy, son Nathan, and daughter Abigail. He is currently worship leader at Community of Hope in Wilsonville, Oregon and regularly leads worship and plays programs for churches, coffee houses, youth group and university events in the Portland Metro area.
Pastor Mark Phillips of River of Life Assembly of God invites the public to enjoy the music“As always,” said Phillips, “we hope that everyone who attends will feel welcomed and part of a caring family.” A freewill offering will be received.
