Grant writing class offered

In response to Wahkiakum County's reduction in funding available for County departments and community organizations, Karen Bertroch is offering a free grant writing class on September 4 and 5, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day, in the River Street Meeting Room.

Bertroch is a recognized trainer in non-profit management and fundraising who last taught the full grantwriting class in Skamokawa in 2003. This is an intense two day workshop providing comprehensive information on all aspects of writing grants, to both private and government entities.

The class will cover the basics of researching for grant opportunities, developing a project, the project budget, registering for http://www.grants.gov, applying for grants on http://www.grants.gov, identifying the best project to match possible funding, and how to write an effective case statement. Those attending are encouraged to bring their laptops and any grant opportunities they want to work on while in the class.

Participants are asked to register before the class so Bertroch can prepare materials accordingly. The class will be offered free. It is sponsored by the Wahkiakum Community Foundation. Contact Bertroch at (360) 465-2414 or email her at: kbertroch@aol.com with questions or to register.
