Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Ilwaco based swing band All That Jazz is set to perform at Cathlamet’s Pioneer Church on August 23 at 7 p.m.
The group plays standards, pop tunes, Latin favorites and light jazz. Selections for the evening performance include Cherry Pink, Moonglow, These Foolish Things, and Besame Mucho.
Performers are Jim Miller and Jerry Pedersen from the Cathlamet-Puget Island area, along with Glen Hansen, Lee Stromquist, Chuck Windham, David Graves, Jeanne Bellinger, and Chris Jacobsen. Sunrise Fletcher of Skamokawa will step on stage joining Miller and Pedersen in their hometown performance.
All That Jazz plays most Sundays from 2-4 p.m. in Ilwaco at Surfer Sand. Audience donations go into a collection jar to fund the Norman Poulshock and Larry Burse Memorial Scholarship Fund the group has established. This year the $500 scholarship was awarded to Fernando Rodriquez graduating from Ilwaco High School. Rodriquez plays tenor sax as well as keyboard, piano, and viola. His scholarship will assist as he enters into premed studies at Gonzaga University. Rodriquez joined in several sessions in Ilwaco with All That Jazz band playing old standards and improvising jazz along with the rest of the senior members.
Tickets for the Pioneer Church performance are $12.50 for adults and $8 for youth.
