Wine tasting, auction to raise funds for FOS

The Friends of Skamokawa have announced their annual Wine and Cheese Evening and silent and live auctions.

This year's event takes place on September 13 at the Skamokawa Grange from 7-10 p.m. The theme this year is "From Tasmania to Romania" and will feature wines from many different wine-producing locations.

The silent auction begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. with Rob Stockhouse as auctioneer.

Tickets are $15 per person and include unlimited wine tasting and appetizers. Starting August 11, advance tickets will be available at Bank of the Pacific, Trillium Books and Redmen Hall. Tickets will also be available at the door at the Skamokawa Grange. The event is over 21 only.

Money raised will go towards maintenance of the grange hall and historic, artistic and education programs supported by the River Life Interpretive Center. The FOS has already received a donation of a 38 volume, individually bound set of Shakespeare's works and a photograph of Marilyn Monroe on her way to Korea to entertain the troops.

Donations can be given to Chairperson Bernadette Goodroe at 80 Butler St. in Cathlamet or dropped off at Redmen Hall during their open hours. Collection is available. Tax receipts will be given for donations.

For more information, contact Goodroe at 795-8031 or Thea Pyle at Redmen Hall, 795-3007.
