Grays River Covered Bridge Celebration this Saturday

The annual Grays River Covered Bridge celebration will be held this Saturday in Grays River.

The Bridge Celebration will be held at Ahlberg Park on the south end of the Bridge beginning with a walk/run at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 7 a.m. The awards ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Music and dancing begin at noon. Vendors and food will be available starting at 10 am. The Kite Museum from Long Beach will help kids make their own kites to fly at the park as well.

The five acre Ahlberg Park at the Bridge is owned and operated by the Wahkiakum Community Foundation. Funds raised by the event are granted to community organizations and the Naselle/Grays River School District annually.

Historic and classic cars and motorcycles, tractors, horses and farm vehicles are always welcome to be displayed. The Grays River Fire Department will have their new ambulance on display. Vendors will have crafts for sale and hay bales will be under the old, historic trees for visiting, eating and enjoying the music. Kids always enjoy coming too, and swimming suits are in order on a hot day. This annual community celebration is a good old fashioned country picnic with plenty of history at the Bridge, a National Historic Site. Located in a rural pastoral setting, the Covered Bridge is a popular site for visitors. With plenty of room for parking any type of vehicle from RV's to motorcycles to farm wagons, all are invited to come celebrate the history of the area and enjoy a good old fashioned country setting.
