This Saturday and Sunday, the former fire hall on Main Street will host the first annual local artist art show featuring local artists from Wahkiakum County and Naselle. The show will take place from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. both days.
The purpose of holding the show Sunday as well as Saturday, is to give residents and visitors alike something to enjoy after they have visited the Wooden Boat Fair at the Elochoman Marina, said Janet Cimino, Art Gallery chair.
The lack of an artist guild hasn’t stopped the art show from taking place, but show organizers are still hoping someone will come and take the helm. The interest is there for a guild, and there is so much talent in the area, Cimino said. “But no one is willing to take the ball and run with it.”
About 20 artists will participate in the art shows and some art will be available for sale. Each artist will have at least 10 works to show and or sell.
The art will mostly be paintings, with other mediums on display. “There will be variety and degrees of professionalism,” she said. “But that isn’t want it’s all about. We just want people interested in art.
