LCEDC gets $10,000 grant

The Lower Columbia Economic Development Council has announced that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Washington State Microenterprise Association to perform an asset mapping and needs assessment of the business activities in Wahkiakum County.

A representative from the EDC will be contacting all of the micro-businesses and cottage industries throughout the county to identify the service requirements and any impediments that prevent them from achieving their desired growth. Assistance will then come in the form of no-cost business counseling, promotion through the Chamber of Commerce, access to capital or by getting two or more complimentary businesses together for their mutual benefit.

A by-product of the project will be a resource guide that identifies the goods and services available in Wahkiakum County so that potential customers can shop their local businesses and keep money in the county. The resource guide will be another marketing tool for businesses that will help to increase revenues and improve potential for success.

For more information about the project or to make sure a business or hobby is included in the resource guide contact the EDC at 795-3996 or email lcedc@cni.net.
