Exhibit showcases fiber arts

A Fiber Arts Exhibit is scheduled to open June 28 at Redmen Hall in Skamokawa.

Contributing artists are from the Clatsop Weavers and Spinners Guild, including several from Wahkiakum County.

Included in the exhibit will be traditional woven materials such as coverlets, table linens, lace and clothing, loom woven wool and rag rugs, baskets, purses, tapestries and banners.

Each Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. there will be interactive demonstrations of spinning, weaving and color blending and a table with assorted natural fibers before and after spinning for visitors to feel.

Special items include baskets woven by Lenoa Riker and eight large banners woven for this exhibit by members of the guild.

Information about the guild and about weaving and spinning classes will be available.

An opening reception with demonstrations will open the exhibit on June 28 from 1-3 p.m. with refreshments served. The exhibit will run until August 10.
