Naselle High seniors graduate

Naselle High School held graduation ceremonies for its 21 seniors last Saturday.

Valedictorian was Sylvia Herrold. Awards which she received included Washington State Honors, Principal's Leadership, Wendy's National High School Heisman, and US Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete.

Salutatorian was Kevin Schei.

Graduating with Gold Honors for a grade point average of 3.5 or higher were Herrold, Schei, Stephanie Wise, who also received a Washington State Honors Award, Ashley Ahlstrom and Logan Hazen. Graduating with Silver Honors, 3.2-3.49, was Narci Carlson.

Class members received a large number of scholarships. These included:

Herrold--Western Oregon University awarded her a four-year $36,000 total athletic scholarship and a four-year academic scholarship to be determined. She also received but declined a Seattle Pacific University four-year $24,000 academic merit scholarship and a four-year $32,000 athletic scholarship. She received the Emma Holm Memorial Scholarship $500; Derby Dollars for Scholars $1,000, Lyle and Elaine Patterson Tribute Scholarship $1,000, Bobbit Hall Memorial $500.

Wise--Bank of the Pacific $2,250, Naselle Congregational Church Martha's Circle $500, Naselle Lutheran Church $500, Pacific County Democrat Club $500.

Carlson--Baylor University awarded her A four-year $40,000 total Gold Scholarship and another four-year additional scholarship totalling $41,600 for four years. She also received a Naselle Education Foundation scholarship for $1,000, Derby Dollars for Scholars $1,000, Covered Bridge Fund $500, Naselle Lutheran Church $500, Naselle Lions Club $250, Pacific County Sheriff's Department $250.

Ahlstrom--Jacob and Wilhelmiina Pakenen Memorial $1,500, Helen Jones Memorial $300, Local IWA $600-700.

Jamie Gilbert--Peggy Busse Memorial $750.

Ryan Rangila--Robert Johnson Memorial $500, Alpha Theta ESA $250.

Kevin Maki--Reuben Pentilla Memorial $500, Derby Dollars for Scholars $1,000, Hancock Forest Management $500, Naselle Congregational Church $500, Naselle Lions $250, Ben Bellefuille Memorial $500, Alpha Theta ESA $250.

Cody Gilbert--Ron Holm Memorial $500.

Whitney Cooper--Margaret Hill Memorial $500, Derby Dollars for Scholars $1,000, Freddie Hatfield Memorial $500.

Jessica Sawtell--Wahkiakum West $750, Bud and Dot Mickelsen Tribute $1,000, Sorenson Transportation $500.

Chanel Ruch--Wahkiakum West $750, Agnes Appelo Memorial $750, two separate Naselle Assembly of God Church scholarships for $500 each.

Kyle Burkhalter--Carson Burkhalter Memorial $600, Harry Thornberg Memorial $500, Patterson Tribute $1,000, Covered Bridge $500, Ralph McGough Memorial $250, Derby Dollars for Scholars $700, Friends of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge $1,000, WIAA District IV AThletic Directors $350.

Haley Kaercher--John and Pearl Doll Memorial $2,250, Berenice J. Appelo Memorial $750, Mark Linquist Memorial $1,000.

Tiana Witwer--Doll Memorial $1,000.

Jason Gradt--Doll Memorial $500.

Several students will attend Clatsop Community College and receive Success Grants in the amount of $300 per term, totaling $1,800 over two years--Witwer, Gilbert, Butchart, Rangila, Cooper, Ruch, Sawtell, Maki, Gilbert, Gradt, Logan Hazen, and Brandi Keightly.
