Fair Princesses announced

I am proud to announce this year’s Wahkiakum County Fair Princesses are: Rosemary Patterson, Sara Niemela, Aimee Harrison, Abbey Buennagel and Nicole Hargrove.

Working with coordinator Joy Niemela, this year’s princesses are hoping to raise a record breaking figure as it is our 100th fair celebration. Each princess will be selling season passes to the fair as well as trying to gain sponsorship from local businesses.

The winning princess will receive a scholarship which can help change their lives.

For example, Nicole has worked hard at school so that she can train as a chef and dreams of one day opening her own restaurant while Abbey has used a family member’s illness to expand her knowledge of medicine, hoping to become a Cardiovascular nurse.

This year’s princesses are a true reflection of our community, volunteering their time and working together to help make Wahkiakum County a better place to live. Aimee is a civil war reenactment fanatic while Sara and Rosemary light up the room with their sense of humor and smiles.

All good students with dreams of college, our princesses need your support. We will be holding a car wash on June 28 at the Cathlamet Chevron and a Bake Sale at the Fairgrounds in July.

If you would like to be involved or become a sponsor, contact Joy Niemela.
