Finns with fish show pride in Loyalty parade

All Finns and their supporters are encouraged to join the Finnish American Folk Festival members as they walk behind their banner in the Loyalty Day parade this Sunday in Long Beach.

The group is looking for fishermen, cannery workers, loggers, housewives, farmers, and kids with boots or comfortable footwear. They will promote their theme "Knee Deep in Finns," with special fish which they will hang around their necks.

Those who are interesting in joining the parade or helping to make cardboard fish, should call Faith Penttila at 484-3473. The group will meet at 11 a.m. for the beginning of judging. Stop at the registration booth at 5th and Oregon to find where the group is located.
