Fashion show highlights quality of donated clothing

Twenty local models showed the variety of fashions available in Cathlamet at a recent Fashion Show.

The models ranged from two years of age to young adults and the clothes, chosen by the models, were donated by the community, and were clean, of good quality, and ready to wear off the rack.

The audience was treated to a variety of looks, from footie pajamas to bridal gowns and everything in between. The personal touch of each model added to the total experience with one young model spinning like a ballerina across the room.

"We'd like to thank the volunteer models from the community who made the fashion show possible and so much fun," said Jean Doering, Director of the Sylvia Peterson Community Services (Clothing) Center at the Cathlamet Seventh-day Adventist Church.

"Thanks must also be given to the five faithful volunteers, who average a cumulative total of 50 hours of service each week, year round, at the Adventist Community Services Center. They are Jean Doering, Marilyn Gatens, Jean Beerbower, Betty Gregory and Darcy Aragon," she added.

In April 2008, 102 local families, with a total of 342 individual family members, were served by the Center. A total of 1,644 articles of clothing were given out.

The Sylvia Peterson Community Services Center is open, Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., for those who are in need of clothing. It is located in the module at the Cathlamet Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3 Fernhill Rd, in Cathlamet and is handicap accessible.
