Washington State University Extension, Wahkiakum Community Foundation (WCF), Wahkiakum Food and Farm Network, Two Islands' Farm Market and the Wahkiakum Master Gardeners will present a free, hands-on gardening workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 3.
The workshop will feature speakers from Clark County organizations Master Composters and Naturally Beautiful Backyards.
Laura Sauermilch will demonstrate the essentials of backyard composting and Sherian Wright will be speaking on the basics of mason bees in the garden. Both will have inexpensive supplies to purchase along with hands on demonstrations and handouts. In addition, there will be a lecture on chemical free gardening.
The workshop will be held at Stockhouse's Farm at 59 W. Birnie Slough Road on Puget Island. Following lunch there will be a walking tour of the Stockhouse farm gardens and greenhouses. Lunch will be provided by WCF.
