Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
After a week of conducting more than 15 community workshops to discuss the proposed Columbia-Pacific National Heritage Area, Destination: the Pacific is still requesting public input on the issue.
The proposed boundary of the Heritage Area includes portions of Clatsop County, Oregon, and Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties.
A map of the proposed boundary and details regarding the proposed themes can also be found at www.ColumbiaPacificHeritage.com.
This proposed Heritage Area, which is likely to be the first on the west coast to receive Congressional designation, would directly benefit communities from Cannon Beach in Oregon to the North Cove area in Washington and east to Skamokawa and Cathlamet in Wahkiakum County and Westport in Clatsop County.
Businesses and government agencies are encouraged to invest in the effort. Those who missed the workshops are encouraged to download comment forms from www.ColumbiaPacificHeritage.com or to email dtp@seasurf.net or call (503) 861-4403 to receive the forms and instructions on how to return them.
For more information about how to contribute or become involved visit www.DestinationThePacific.com or call Destination: The Pacific at (503) 861-4403. Contributions should be made to Destination: The Pacific and sent to Heritage Area Study, c/o DTP, P.O. Box 2005, Astoria, OR, 97103.
