Wayne Flohr of Cathlamet has announced his candidacy for Wahkiakum County Commissioner. Flohr, 33, is running for the second district seat currently held by Independent Dan Cothren. Flohr is running as a Democrat.
Flohr earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Washington State University in Vancouver, and his Masters of Social Work from Eastern Washington University through the Vancouver satellite campus.
He is currently employed as a mental health professional with Wahkiakum Health and Human Services. He serves on the Wahkiakum Fair Board, is a member of the Wahkiakum Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he is the president of the Wahkiakum County employees union.
Flohr is running on the platform of community change. His goal is to bring community members together for a better place for all to live.
“I believe that my experience in dealing with high stress situations and my ability to communicate with others will make me an effective leader for this county,” Flohr said.
“It is time for some fresh ideas on the commission and some different angles on how to meet the needs of our people and move forward.”
