Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The advent of spring is in evidence in the reception room of the Wahkiakum Family Practice Clinic in Cathlamet with a grouping of flowers created by Esther Roche, Thea Pyle and Noreen Fitts.
The seventh exhibit of the "Community of Caring and Sharing" art program went on display May 3 and can be viewed through the month of June.
Two new local artists have joined the program, said coordinator Janet Cimino.
Margie Godfrey, the clinic's nurse practitioner shares her color photography and Frank Loomans entered three wood designs called intarsia.
Rounding out the display are new artworks by Mike Swift, Mitzi Christensen, Judy Curtis, David Goodroe, Ellen Anderson and Janet Cimino.
Andersen has been designated the featured artist of the show. She splits residences between Seattle and Skamokawa Landing, and her watercolors reflect her affinity for this region. Andersen attributes her artistic interests to her parents. She studied at the University of Washington, Edision Technical School and Frye Art Museum in Seattle. She participated in the Art Stall Gallery at Pike Place Market for 42 years and has taught art classes since the 1980s, currently teaching seniors in the Seattle area. She reports having pride in being a part of the "Community of Caring and Sharing" program. For that reason, she has gifted one of her paintings to Dr. Wright in an expression of thanks for serving our community.
Several pieces of art are offered for sale at the conclusion of the show. Any questions regarding the artists or their work should be directed to Cimino at 795-0636.
