LCC aims to help college hopefuls, job-seekers

Lower Columbia College is holding a series of fairs and open houses to help those who are seeking employment or hoping to go on to further education.

The events begin today (Thursday) with the Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology training program at Lower Columbia College inviting the public to an open house from 2-6 p.m.

Visitors can look the facilities over, meet the faculty, and explore the different career options available to Diesel grads. It will be held in room 123 in the Don Talley Building, south of Mark Morris High School on 15th Avenue in Longview.

For more information about Diesel and Heavy Equipment career training at LCC, contact Ken Ecklund, (360) 442-2741 or kecklund@low-ercolumbia.edu.

The event includes three free workshops:

2–3 p.m.—Which comes first, the career or the major?

3–4 p.m.—Résumé mania: Be critiqued by local professionals.

Participants should dress as for an interview and bring copies of their résumé, as all the participating employers are hiring, or soon will be. More information for both employers and job-hunters is available from the LCC Career Center, 360-442-2330, and at http://www.collegecentral.com/swwacareerfair/.
