Mules blitz Tigers

Mules blitz Tigers Hayden Miles had a solid game for the MIles in their win over Napavine with 11 points, including two on this shot in the first half. The Wahkiakum Mules boys basketball team trailed at halftime but used a big third quarter to tame the Napavine Tigers 62-56 January 23.

The win left the Mules solidly in second place in the Central League with a 14-2 season record, 10-2 in league play.

The Mules led the Tigers 14-9 after one quarter. Napavine stormed back in the second quarter to lead 28-25 at halftime and 44-39 after three quarters.

The Mules started the last quarter with a different press that knocked the Tigers out of their game. They outscored the Tigers 23-12 in the final quarter to take control of the game.

Bobby Helms and Josh Rongey each scored 17 points for the Mules. Hayden Miles added 11, Cody Olsen eight, Tyler Benson five, and Chase Fritzie four.

The Mules, ranked seventh statewide in the Associated Press poll, head to Mossyrock on Friday. They entertain top ranked and undefeated Toutle Lake February 6, and they close the regular season at Morton February 8.
