Mule boys crunch three foes

Hayden Miles scored in the Mules' win over Morton. The Wahkiakum Mule boys basketball team picked up three more wins this past week.

On January 9, the Mules held off a stubborn Morton team to earn a 62-51 Central League win over the Huskies.

The Mules led 24-19 after one quarter and outscored the Huskies 28-16 in the second and third quarters to control the game.

Josh Rongey and Cody Olsen led the Mule scoring with 24 points apiece. Hayden Miles and Bobby Helms each added six, and Tyler Benson had two.

Miles had 13 rebounds; Olsen made five assists, and Helms had three steals.

On Friday, the Mules rolled over the Vancouver Christian Light 67-38 on the road.

Rongey led the scoring with 19 points; Olsen had 15, Miles 10, Benson nine, Helms seven, Drew Windsor five, and Chase Fritzie and Chris Diaz one each.

On Saturday, the Mules picked up a non-league win over the visiting LaCenter Wildcats. Statistics were unavailable.

The Mules entertained White Pass last night (Wednesday). They are at Pe Ell on Friday and host Napavine January 23.
