Archive center to host historic winter photos show

Archive center to host historic winter photos show One of the photos that will be on display at Naselle Library.

Historic photos illustrating winter scenes in SW Washington will be featured in a one day only photo show at the Naselle Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 26.

A powerpoint collection of photos will be shown on the hour and photo albums will be available as well.

The Archive Center's collection (some on loan) has over 3,000 historic photos of SW Washington families, logging, fishing and farming, as well as boating on the Columbia River. All the photographs are catalogued with information on the individuals in the photos and their families with as much information as possible. It is hoped that local folks will come and identify places and faces in the photos as well. Copies of the photos can be ordered at the show.

The Archive Center staff have been scanning and cataloguing these photos for several years. Each season in 2008, the staff hopes to bring historic photos to the public through power point shows. Archive Center staff will be available to present the show for school classrooms as well. Schools in the SW Washington area should contact the Archive Center to arrange for a classroom visit.

Calendars for 2008 with archive photos will be available at the show for $10. Admission is free.
