Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
In the past year, many changes have been made at The Eagle.
For instance, because of rising postal costs, inserts are now only being accepted for papers delivered within the county and Naselle area.
Another change taking effect immediately: Subscribers to The Eagle will no longer have the option of repeatedly giving a gift subscription to the same person.
Gift subscriptions will still be available with a paid subscription as long as the gift recipient has never received a free subscription to The Eagle.
"The rising cost of doing business is forcing us to make further changes in our policies," said The Eagle's production chief Geri Florek.
The intent of the year long gift subscription is to introduce new residents to the paper, but a few have taken advantage of that policy, Florek explained. Too many people have given the same recipients the gift year after year.
Eagle subscribers will now have 30 days in which they can pay and still be eligible to give a gift subscription. In the past, they were given 35 days.
