Help is available for winter heating bills

For people who are concerned about paying higher heating bills this winter, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) may be able to help.

LIHEAP is a federally funded program providing assistance with winter heating bills--electric, wood, wood pellets, oil, propane or natural gas, to income-eligible households. Annual net household income limits are $12,763 for one person, $17,113 for two, $21,463 for three, $25,813 for four, and $30,163 for five. Additional income allowed for larger families.

Wahkiakum County residents may schedule an appointment by calling Energy Assistance at CAP at 425-3430 or 1-800-383-2101. For further information on income guidelines, call Mary Vik at Health and Human Services, 795-8630 or 1-800-635-5989.
