PUD to celebrate water expansion

Wahkiakum PUD will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Western Wahkiakum Water Systems expansion project in the Salmon Creek Road area.

The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on November 20 at the PUD's office at 45 River Street in Cathlamet.

The project included the installation of approximately 42,000 feet of water pipe, an 80,000 gallon concrete reservoir, a booster pump station and a pressure reducing vault. Forty three customers were connected in the initial project, and four have connected since completion in January, 2006.

"This project took many years of effort and would not have been completed without the help of the following groups," said PUD Manager David Tramblie.

"Senator Patty Murray and staff; Environmental Protection Agency, Stag Grant; United States Department of Agriculture; Wahkiakum County commissioners; Pacific County commissioners; Washington Public Utility Districts Association; Gray and Osborne; Big River Excavation; Michelle Danley at the Office of the Governor; Senator Maria Cantwell and staff and Congressman Brian Baird and staff.

"There were many local individuals who spent hundreds of hours making this project happen. If it weren't for their perseverance the project would not have been a success," Tramblie said.
