Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services is again coordinating Thanksgiving baskets for Wahkiakum County's needy families.
Anyone knowing of a family who needs some extra assistance this year is asked to get in touch with Health and Human Services. Donations of food items, turkeys or financial contributions may be dropped off at one of the county's two food banks or at Health and Human Services for it to be forwarded to the food banks. Thanksgiving baskets will be limited to one per household.
The food banks are open every Tuesday; Helping Hand on Fern Hill Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Wahkiakum Food Bank at 47 Elochoman Valley Road from 3-5 p.m.
For those needing ongoing food assistance, the Washington Basic Food Program provides benefits to supplement an individual or family income to help provide a more nutritious diet.
