Wahkiakum Mule senior Walker Riley finished third at last week’s district cross county meet and qualified for the state meet this Saturday in Pasco.
The Mule team finished third; only the top two boys teams qualified for the meet.
Nathan Perry of White Pass won the 5k race at St. Martin University, Lacey, in 16:26.1. Riley was third in 17:05.78. Other Mule runners were 13. Jon Murphy 18:37.36; 15. Jared McEntire 18.50.32; 19. Chris Hokkanen 19:06.66; 24. Kevin O’Connor 19:28.66; 43. Hayden Miles 21:40.39; 44. Stuart Bosch 21:41.62.
Northwest Christian won the team competition with 30 points. Following were White Pass 46, Wahkiakum 63, Naselle 97 and North Beach 106.
Results for Naselle Comet runners were 12. Nathan Reitz 18:26.45; 17. Drew Macy 19:04.88; 28. Alex Bennett 19:46.23; 29. Conor Smith 19:51.27; 30. Calen Thompson 19:58.21; and 33. Gary Johansen 20:13.79.
Northwest Christian also won the girls team competition with 26 points. Following were White Pass 61, Ocosta 71, Tacoma Baptist 88 and Wahkiakum 111.
