The 2007 Warrior Football team concluded its season on Monday with a pizza party held at lunch for the team.
During the party all participants received certificates for their efforts, as well as four individual awards. The recipient of the “Top Seventh Grader” award was Lars Blix. Kendall Johns received the “Top Lineman” award, and Kyle Bergquist received the “Most Valuable Player” award. Wyatt Parker took the “Black Lion Award,” awarded by the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The Black Lion Award is given to those who are nominated for outstanding leadership and are selected by a group of retired Army Generals and current US Army Rangers.
The Warriors were led by several members throughout the year. Offensive standouts were Kyle Bergquist who tallied 959 yards rushing with 9 touchdowns, Wyatt Parker who rushed for 402 yards and had 508 yards receiving, and Lars Blix who rushed for 353 yards and passed for 636 yards. Defensively the Warriors were led by Kyle Bergquist with 67 tackles, Wyatt Parker with 43 tackles, and Kendall Johns and Kohl Bergseng each had 24 tackles.
