NCSB to play music of the northern countries

The North Coast Symphonic band presents its season opener concert at 2 p.m. on November 4 at the Clatsop College Performing Arts Center in Astoria .

Richard Boberg returns for his fifth season as conductor of the 40-plus member concert band to present an afternoon of instrumental music titled “Northern Fancies.” The band will explore the music of the Scandinavian countries, Scotland and Holland.

Advance tickets are available at Bach & Rock, 339 12th in downtown Astoria and at the door the day of the concert. Regular admission is $10 per person with children 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

The box office opens at 1 p.m. and Astoria ’s newest chamber ensemble, Brass Gone Baroque, will entertain before the concert when the auditorium doors open at 1:30 p.m. The North Coast Symphonic Band performs in partnership with Clatsop College ’s Arts and Ideas Program.
