Violence prevention speaker presents workshop

Todd Denny, a nationally recognized speaker in violence prevention, will host a workshop at the John C. Thomas Middle School on May 9 at 3:10 p.m.

The workshop will teach simple, non-violent intervention skills, and will cover the topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and victim support.

The workshop will take the focus off males as the perpetrators of violence and refocus on them as advocates and allies.

Denny has conducted over 1000 seminars and programs over the past 17 years. He will conduct an assembly for students in grades 8-12 at 8:45 a.m. on the day of the workshop. He will cover subjects such as sexual harrassment, and how alcohol and drug use contribute to the sexual assault problem.

The event is sponsored by The Charlotte House, Wahkiakum School District and Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact The Charlotte House at 795-6401.
