Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Elochoman Hatchery is running it's Kids Fish Free event starting this last weekend in April and running every weekend during May.
The hatchery has stocked two ponds at the Burns rock pit with trout for kids 14 and under to catch. The fish are raised by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). As a WDFW facility, the Elochoman Hatchery incorporates the fish into their program and places the fish in the ponds in conjunction with the landowners.
All participants in the event must bring their own bait and tackle and it is required that they be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Ages 8 and under can start fishing at 8 a.m., with the 14 and unders starting at 9 a.m. The ponds close at 8 p.m. The limit is five fish.
For more information, call the Elochoman hatchery between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 795-3608.
