Comet Invitational

The Wahkiakum Mule girls finished first and the boys second in their divisions at the Naselle Comet Invitational Track and Field Meet April 26.

Mule Toby David was named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete. He set a new Wahkiakum High School record while winning the 100m in 11.3 seconds. He was also a member of the 1600m relay team, of Jon Murphy, Walker Riley, David and Brandon Ferguson which set a new meet record, in 3:35.37.

Mule Coach Mike Riley said the old 100m record was a four way tie (11.4) set by Ken Florek 1980 , Scott Ramsdell 1984, Doug Souvenir 1988, and Jarod Moore 2000.

For the girls, Jasmine Bingham broke meet record in winning the 100m at 11.66 and was on meet record setting 400m relay team of Whitney Chaput, Whitley Wirkkala, Jasmine Bing-ham, Valle Ledke. Their time of 4:27.0 broke the old record by 7 seconds, Riley said.

Overall, David and Bingham each had four first place finshes.
